Boardwalk Porsche Announces Mike Marsh Has Completed Year-Long Executive Management Training Program

Boardwalk Porsche, an automotive dealership serving the Plano area, today announced that Mike Marsh, General Manager, has graduated from the NCM Institute’s year-long General Management Executive Program, a comprehensive executive development training program for auto dealership managers. Marsh attended a series of six 2½ day training sessions conducted over an 11-month period at the NCM Institute’s training facilities in Kansas City, completing the training on June 6th. The automotive industry is ultra-competitive and there is a high demand for well trained, customer focused executives that can create a good buying experience for vehicle shoppers, while continuing to successfully market and grow the dealership.

Happy to be among the graduates of the General Management Executive Program, Mike Marsh had this to say about the program, “The GMEP process was demanding, but a great learning experience. Now I’m eager to put the knowledge I’ve acquired to work here at Boardwalk Porsche to take our customer experience to the next level.” Marsh was one of 18 dealership executives and general managers from across the U.S. who successfully completed the rigorous training program which began on August 1, 2012.

“The management team at Boardwalk all feel strongly about continuing education for all of our staff and are proud of Mike for completing this program with NCM. Boardwalk believes that there is no better investment than in our people and we will continue to challenge each member of our team to learn and grow every day,” stated Ken Ambrose, Senior Vice President with Boardwalk Auto Group.

The General Management Executive Program is administered by the NCM® Institute Center for Automotive Retail Excellence and is designed to equip current and future automotive dealership executives for long-term success in retail automotive management. With emphasis in dealership financial and operational best practices, the program prepares students with the executive leadership skills necessary to successfully manage a retail automotive operation, where they must balance the volatility of the industry with the myriad operational decisions that drive the profitability of their dealerships.

NCM’s president and chief executive officer, Paul A. Faletti Jr., lauded the dealerships for their collective commitment to investing in their future leaders and for their dedication to promoting excellence and integrity in the industry. “We are an organization devoted to helping our automotive retail clients succeed,” he explained. “Without question, the most successful operators are those who invest in their people, giving them the tools and resources they need to be the best they can be.”

The 2013 Porsche Boxster Arrives at Boardwalk Porsche

Boardwalk Porsche today announced that the new 2013 Porsche Boxster models have arrived in their Plano, Texas showroom. The third-generation of the highly regarded Porsche sports car goes on sale today, June 21, 2012.

Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster has a change of generation been so comprehensive. The new Boxster weighs up to 77 pounds less than the previous generation while riding on a longer wheelbase and a wider track. Larger wheels, a restyled interior reminiscent of the Carrera GT supercar and a redesigned, fully electric top that now opens and closes in nine seconds help make the hi-performance roadster even more livable for everyday use.

“This is the classic mid-engine Porsche pairing,” said Mike Marsh, General Manager of Boardwalk Porsche. “The new Boxster and Boxster S have been thoroughly updated with aggressive styling and more powerful engines, while being more comfortable and fuel efficient. With optional features like Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and the Sport Chrono Package, these perfectly balanced mid-engined roadsters, now in their third-generation, are an absolute blast to drive.”

Both the Boxster and the Boxster S are powered by flat-six engines with direct fuel injection and a highly efficient electrical system recuperation feature, thermal management and a Stop/Start function. The base model’s new power unit delivers 265 hp from an engine displacing 2.7 liters and provides ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. The 315 hp 3.4-liter engine of the Boxster S now delivers five more hp than before.

Both models are equipped with a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission optional and both versions achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration with the PDK. With no power flow interruption during gear changes, the Boxster sprints from zero to 60 mph in as little 5.2 seconds, the Boxster S in as little as 4.5 seconds. The EPA rates the Boxster at 32 mpg highway, and the Boxster S at 30 mpg with the PDK.

The base list price will be $49,500 for the Boxster and $60,900 for the Boxster S, not including a $950 destination charge.

Name for new Porsche SUV is Macan

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s new sports car in the SUV segment has been given the name Macan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of the new off-road car.

“The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”, said Bernhard Maier, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. “The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.”

As the fifth Porsche model line, the Macan is a central plank of Strategy 2018, by which the sports car manufacturer wishes to expand its model portfolio. Porsche intends the Macan to emulate the success of the Cayenne. The SUV will start coming off the production lines in Leipzig in 2013. To that end, the site in this city in Saxony is being expanded into a fully-fledged production plant including body assembly line and paint shop – with 500 million euro of investment one of the biggest building projects in Porsche’s corporate history. In the medium-term, the sports car manufacturer will be creating more than 1,000 new jobs here.

Word names at Porsche have a concrete connection with the corresponding model and its characteristics: the name Boxster describes the combination of boxer engine and roadster, Cayenne stands for sharpness, the Cayman is snappy and agile and a Panamera is more than a Gran Tourismo, capable also of winning the Carrera Panamericana long-distance race.

The new Boxster generation – the mid-engine roadster from Porsche

Stuttgart. Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster was a change of generation so comprehensive. The open-top two-seater car is being marketed with a completely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. Considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance yet further the mid-engine sports car’s driving dynamics, already far and away the best in its class, supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. The new Boxsters boast superior performance and are also up to 15 per cent more fuelefficient. Depending on model, they get by with significantly less than eight litres of fuel per 100 kilometres.

The new Boxster thus delivers what the fundamentally changed styling with shorter overhangs, significantly forward-shifted windscreen, flatter silhouette and expressive edges promises. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully electric hood, which now dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with the raked centre console, which, originating with the Carrera GT, ensures further improved ergonomics in all models.

The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six engines with direct petrol injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function. The base model’s new power unit delivers 265 hp (195 kW) from a 2.7 litre displacement – ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. Technically, it is now based on the 3.4-litre engine of the Boxster S. This now delivers 315 hp (232 kW), which is five hp more than before. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. The Porsche Boxster’s fuel consumption with PDK is 7.7 l/100 km and 8.0 l/100 km for the Boxster S. With gear changes without interruption to the power flow, the Boxster sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, the Boxster S in 5.0 seconds.

To enhance driving dynamics yet further, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock..

The market launch of the new Boxster generation will be on 14.04.2012. The basic list price in Germany will be 48,291 euro for the Boxster and 59,120 euro for the Boxster S, including 19 per cent value added tax in both cases.

Boardwalk Porsche to Unveil the New 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera in Dallas

On February 9th, Boardwalk Porsche will give customers in North Dallas their first opportunity to see the seventh generation, the 2012 Porsche 911.

There have only been six generations of the 911 in its illustrious 48-year history. On February 9th, Boardwalk Porsche will give customers in North Dallas their first opportunity to see the seventh generation, the 2012 Porsche 911.

It is more than the next 911. It’s Porsche’s vision for the future of the sports car, as evidenced by even more power from less fuel. Proving once again that despite over 60 years of making history, it’s making history, yet again. “The 911 has become a cultural icon of performance and we are excited to share the new 2012 Porsche 911 with all of our customers in Dallas,” said Mike Marsh, General Manager of Boardwalk Porsche.

From every angle, it is unmistakably a 911, holding true to the Porsche 911 Carrera “evolution, not revolution” design philosophy. No fewer than 90% of the components of the 911 are either new or have been fundamentally revised. This is Porsche’s approach to the preservation of tradition.

The extended wheelbase now has an additional inch more of leg room in the front than in previous 911 models. Sportiness in harmony with comfort is the theme reflected in the clever ergonomics that characterize the entire interior design. The materials used, the layout of the controls and their operating logic belong to a new generation of sports car. Another new design for the new 911 is the elevated center console. Its intelligent operating concept follows a clear principle of direct simplicity.

The first new 911 models will arrive at Boardwalk Porsche beginning in February of 2012. Brian Ongaro, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Boardwalk Auto Group said, “The demand for the new 2012 Porsche 911 in Dallas is unprecedented and we look forward to serving Dallas and the surrounding communities with the ultimate Boardwalk Porsche customer experience.”
